“Beware of Cyber Scams on Prime Day Deals”

With the upcoming Prime Day sales event, it’s crucial for bargain hunters to be wary of potential cyber threats. Scammers often take advantage of major shopping events like Prime Day by using fake offers, phishing emails, and fake websites to deceive individuals into sharing personal information or payment details. Security experts caution that scammers thrive in the high-pressure shopping atmosphere that Prime Day creates.

According to Check Point’s security team, a significant increase in new Amazon-related web domains has been observed globally from December 2025 to last month, with a peak in April where 1,446 new domains were registered. This timeframe is particularly worrisome as attackers can use it to establish malicious domains, making them appear legitimate and harder to detect before Prime Day.

While most domains are safe, Check Point discovered that approximately one in eleven newly registered Amazon-themed domains were either malicious or suspicious. These scams are successful because they closely mimic normal shopping behavior, including familiar branding, convincing checkout pages, delivery alerts, and a sense of urgency.

To avoid falling victim to scams during Prime Day, shoppers should take precautions. Firstly, carefully verify the website address before entering any personal information, as scammers often create fake pages resembling Amazon’s official site. Additionally, avoid clicking on links from emails, text messages, or social media posts and instead, access Amazon directly by typing the website address.

Watch out for warning signs such as unrealistically cheap deals, refund claims, or urgent expiration alerts, as these are common tactics used to create pressure and prompt hasty decisions. Be cautious of fake notifications about suspended Prime accounts and always verify information directly through Amazon’s official website.

By following these safety measures, shoppers can enjoy Prime Day while staying protected from potential scams. Prime Day is scheduled to run from June 23 to June 26, offering a plethora of deals and offers to look forward to.
