Former President Donald Trump faced criticism for a series of unusual late-night social media posts. Among them were an artificial intelligence (AI) photo of JD Vance without a shirt and an image of his wife, Melania Trump. One post at 11:03 pm local time featured an AI-created image of Trump, the Vice President, and Marco Rubio paddling shirtless in the Lincoln Memorial Reflecting Pool, which is undergoing a transformation to a blue color using industrial-grade materials.
Trump’s posts on Truth Social also included pictures of the Reflecting Pool, with one comparing its appearance during the Obama administration and showcasing an artist’s rendition of the new blue pool. Another post depicted Melania Trump smiling after an incident at the White House Correspondents’ dinner. Trump also targeted Hakeem Jeffries, the Democrat Minority Leader in the US House of Representatives, calling him “low IQ” and a “thug.”
In a different post, Trump’s face was digitally placed next to Mount Rushmore National Memorial, a location he has previously expressed interest in being added to. Despite a proposal in 2025 by Representative Anna Paulina Luna to carve Trump’s figure on Mount Rushmore, it did not progress beyond the committee stage.
Additional AI-generated images shared by Trump showed him holding UNO cards with the word ‘Wild’ and the caption, “I have all the cards.” US political commentator Harry Sisson remarked on the rapid succession of Trump’s messages, stating, “All of this took place in under an hour. This man is not well.”
The social media activity followed a recent controversy where Trump posted an image portraying himself as Jesus Christ performing a healing miracle. He later claimed he thought the AI-generated picture depicted him as a doctor supporting the Red Cross. Trump dismissed criticisms as “fake news,” asserting his role in making people better.
