A massive 21lb rabbit named Junior, a Continental Giant also known as a German Giant, has outgrown its hutch and now enjoys its own bedroom. Junior, who weighs as much as three chihuahuas, dwarfs his companion Suzi, a petite 1.5lb Netherland Dwarf rabbit, who can comfortably nap under one of Junior’s ears. Owner Lyn Hobson, 66, a devoted animal enthusiast and chef from Winteringham, Lincolnshire, has pampered Junior and Suzi, providing them with a dedicated room in her three-bedroom house along with a sandpit outdoors.
Lyn, who previously cared for a 20lb rabbit named Jester until his passing in 2023, has been looking after Junior and Suzi for three years after receiving them from a friend in South Shields. The pair, well-trained and disciplined, have their own bedroom complete with a litter box and are meticulous about cleanliness. Lyn cultivates food for them in her backyard, offering a variety of vegetables such as broccoli, parsnips, carrots, and lettuce, sometimes dehydrated. Despite Junior’s large size, Suzi, the smaller bunny, asserts her dominance over him, playfully interacting by either gently nudging him aside or pouncing on him.
In addition to enjoying cuddle time on the sofa while watching football matches, with a particular fondness for supporting Liverpool F.C., the duo also contribute to charitable causes. Lyn, an ambassador for animal rights charities and shelters, advocates for the significance of hay in a rabbit’s diet and raises funds for ill rabbits through Rabbit Savior.
