The Montreal Roses have decided to part ways with their inaugural head coach, Robert Rositoiu, following their elimination from the W Canadian Championship. The club’s sporting director, Marinette Pichon, made the announcement on Thursday morning, expressing gratitude to Rositoiu for his contributions in establishing the professional women’s soccer team.
Acknowledging the difficulty of this decision, Pichon emphasized the need for a fresh approach to propel the club forward for the remainder of the season and beyond. Currently positioned second in the Northern Super League (NSL) with 27 points, the Roses have 10 matches remaining in their regular season.
Robert Rositoiu took on the role of head coach in September 2024 in preparation for the Roses’ debut season in the NSL the following year. In the interim, Maryse Bard-Martel, the team’s former assistant coach and head of goalkeeping, will step in as the interim head coach as the club begins the search for a permanent replacement. Bard-Martel will lead the team in their upcoming match against AFC Toronto.
