Three security personnel at a nightclub in downtown Winnipeg are facing charges of assault following an incident that left a Winnipeg Sea Bears player with serious injuries earlier this month. Teddy Allen was attacked at the nightclub in the early hours of August 3, resulting in his hospitalization, according to a statement from the Canadian Elite Basketball League team.
The individuals, aged 35, 37, and 58, who were employed at the establishment, were arrested on Wednesday and charged with assault causing bodily harm, as announced by the police in a news release on Thursday. They have all been released with undertakings. Although the nightclub was not named by the authorities, it was disclosed to be located on Main Street, between Portage and William avenues.
Allen, after undergoing medical examinations and receiving a diagnosis, is now recuperating at home, as stated in a written declaration issued by the team on Thursday. Expressing his sentiments, Allen stated that the assault should never have occurred, emphasizing his determination to recover and move forward.
