“Boy Injured Defending Friend Against Gang Attack”

A 12-year-old boy sustained facial injuries, including cuts, and a swollen jaw and eye socket following an assault by a group of individuals. Connor McGowan intervened to protect his female friend from the gang, leading to a violent confrontation during which he was struck with a bottle and threatened with a knife.

The incident took place near Dundee’s High Street on the evening of March 20. Lori Roache, Connor’s mother, recounted that her son and his friends, a 14-year-old boy and a 17-year-old girl, encountered a large group of approximately 20 teenagers while making their way home to Springfield, Fife. The situation escalated quickly as the group targeted Connor’s female companion, prompting him to intervene.

According to Lori, the group turned aggressive and attacked Connor, describing the assailants as behaving like “a pack of animals” and inflicting severe injuries. She expressed relief that her son survived the assault, emphasizing the potential fatal consequences of the attack.

Despite expecting Connor home by 8:30 pm, his phone had died, prompting Lori to search for him. Upon receiving a distressing message from one of his friends, she rushed to Dundee and transported him to Ninewells Hospital for treatment. While Connor was eventually discharged, he remains deeply affected by the traumatic incident.

Lori highlighted the emotional turmoil she experienced upon learning of her son’s injuries and reiterated her concerns for his safety. She stressed the need for justice and accountability for the perpetrators, expressing fear for Connor’s well-being and emphasizing the importance of preventing future incidents.

Authorities in Scotland have initiated an investigation into the assault, which left Connor and his friends injured. Police are actively pursuing leads to identify and apprehend those responsible for the violent attack, which occurred in an alleyway near Dundee’s High Street.

The family is grappling with the aftermath of the incident, with Connor scheduled for further medical assessments to ensure no lasting damage. Despite the physical injuries, the psychological impact on the young boy remains a significant concern for his mother, who is determined to safeguard his well-being in the future.
