Kyren Wilson was the victim of a burglary at his residence while he was competing in the Championship League Snooker tournament. Unaware of the break-in at the time, Wilson had just secured a 3-0 triumph over Haydon Pinhey at the Mattioli Arena.
The burglary was discovered later, prompting Wilson to withdraw from the event. The renowned snooker player revealed that valuable items, including luxury watches, jewelry, and a sum of money designated for charity, were stolen during the break-in.
Wilson took to his Instagram account to share the distressing news, stating that several sentimental and high-value possessions, such as Cartier and Audemars Piguet watches, a ladies’ Rolex, and a special necklace, were among the stolen items. The loss of £2,000 intended for a charitable donation added to the emotional impact on his family.
The incident has been reported to the authorities, with CCTV footage under review for possible leads. Wilson urged anyone with information to come forward and assist in the recovery of the stolen items. He also requested the public to share his post to help spread awareness and aid in the retrieval process.
As a consequence of Wilson’s withdrawal, Pinhey, Dylan Emery, and Michal Szubarczyk were awarded walkovers in the tournament. Wilson will next participate in the Shanghai Masters scheduled to commence on July 27.
Furthermore, it was announced that Wilson, a former world No. 2, will participate in a snooker exhibition event in October to support Florence Bark’s BeMoreFab charity. The event, organized by TWSportsManagement’s Taylor Wilson, will feature players like Stuart Bingham, Joe O’Connor, and Louis Heathcote, with proceeds dedicated to the children’s cancer charity.
Expressing pride in supporting the charity, Wilson emphasized the importance of fundraising for such causes and encouraged people to participate in the event for a noble cause.
