Two tourists tragically fell to their deaths from a balcony at a Malaysian airport within hours of each other. A 27-year-old Chinese woman fell at Kuala Lumpur International Airport, followed by a 30-year-old Algerian man, in two unrelated incidents on the same day, according to local police.
The Chinese woman was witnessed sitting on a ledge before falling around 2:20 pm on May 1. Authorities reported that she was visibly distressed before the incident. Despite efforts from security personnel and airport staff to calm her, she resisted and ultimately fell to the KLIA2 loading bay. She was rushed to Putrajaya Hospital, where she was pronounced dead.
Authorities disclosed that the woman was set to board a return flight to China on the same day, and an investigation into the circumstances was initiated. KLIA police chief M Ravi stated, “The 27-year-old woman was scheduled to board a flight back to China tomorrow. The case is being treated as a sudden death report (SDR), and the cause of the incident is still under investigation.”
Later that evening, at approximately 9:10 pm, the Algerian man jumped from the third-floor balcony area of Terminal 2. Witnesses observed him bypassing a safety barrier before falling from the ledge. Emergency services responded promptly, transporting him to Cyberjaya Hospital for treatment. Unfortunately, he succumbed to his injuries and passed away at 2:55 am. Police advised against speculating on either incident.
“A medical team provided emergency treatment at the scene, and the man was subsequently taken to Cyberjaya Hospital for further care. The hospital confirmed his passing at 2:55 am,” Ravi mentioned in a statement.
