Health updates have been provided for three horses that sustained injuries during the Grand National event. The horses, namely Mr Vango, Top Of The Bill, and Quai De Bourbon, required evaluation after falling during Saturday’s race at Aintree, near Liverpool.
Mr Vango, who fell at the sixth fence, is currently under observation at Leahurst Equine Hospital due to an avulsion fracture in the neck. Trainer Sara Bradstock expressed optimism about the horse’s recovery, mentioning that despite the injury, it is not near the vertebrae of his neck. She added that Mr Vango is being cared for diligently and will undergo a CT scan before being discharged.
Regarding the possibility of Mr Vango returning to racing, Bradstock mentioned that while there is a chip off the vertebrae, the horse’s current condition and movements are positive indicators. She is hopeful that with proper care, Mr Vango could potentially resume racing in the future.
Top Of The Bill, trained by Nigel and Willy Twiston-Davies, was another horse evaluated post the race. The horse’s jockey, Toby McCain-Mitchell, received a 10-day suspension for not pulling up the horse promptly after the fall.
Quai De Bourbon, under Willie Mullins’ training, was also assessed after falling at the second fence. The horse was scheduled to return home following the race.
In other news, preparations for The Masters, starting on April 6, are underway. Golf enthusiasts can catch the live action with Sky’s Ultimate TV and Sky Sports bundle, offering various channels and streaming services.
Both Top Of The Bill and Beauport, another horse from the same stable, were reported to be in good health after the incidents. Willy Twiston-Davies confirmed that both horses were in excellent condition and had returned home safely.
