Steven Lyons, a prominent figure in Scotland’s criminal underworld, was captured by Bali police officers wearing a striking orange prison jumpsuit and his hands bound with cable ties. He was apprehended upon his arrival at Bali’s I Gusti Ngurah Rai International Airport from Singapore, just days after being expelled from Qatar. Bali police detained the 45-year-old based on suspicions that he is a key figure in an international criminal network.
The arrest request for Lyons reportedly came from Spain’s Guardia Civil, with the Ngurah Rai Immigration Office stating that he is believed to be the leader of an international criminal organization. Authorities suspect Lyons of orchestrating the operations of several fictitious companies and participating in money laundering activities.
New images show Lyons visibly angry as he was escorted by police at the Bali police headquarters, where he is slated for deportation to Spain. Lyons’ partner, Amanda Lyons, was also arrested in Dubai on the same day for alleged offenses committed in Spain.
The Lyons clan, based in Cumbernauld, North Lanarkshire, has been engaged in a long-standing feud with the Daniel group in Glasgow. Indonesian officials emphasized that the country will not harbor international fugitives, highlighting the effectiveness of immigration surveillance in Bali against transnational threats.
Scottish authorities have confirmed Lyons’ arrest and are collaborating with European partner agencies on the case. Lyons fled to Indonesia following his deportation from Qatar, after previously residing in Dubai and being expelled from the UAE due to his criminal connections.
Lyons, along with other individuals, was instructed to leave the UAE following escalating concerns surrounding his criminal activities, as reported by the Daily Record.
