“Life Sentences for Parents in Baby’s Brutal Killing”

A husband and wife have received life sentences for the brutal killing of their three-month-old baby boy. Miguel Pirjani was discovered unresponsive at his residence on Percy Road, Seacombe, Wirral, leading to his death five days later in November 2024. Despite claiming their son had stopped breathing, medical scans at Alder Hey Children’s Hospital unveiled a fractured skull and numerous other fractures sustained in the weeks prior.

During the trial at Liverpool Crown Court, Klevi Pirjani, a former chef and digger driver, portrayed himself as an exemplary father but was accused of referring to Miguel as a “monster” and “it.” The couple attempted to shift blame onto each other, with the mother alleging that the father had physically assaulted their son.

The judge condemned the defendants for the heinous act of violence that led to Miguel’s death, emphasizing their warped relationship and prioritization of their own interests. Merseyside Police confirmed the couple’s sentencing for murder following the infant’s tragic passing and detailed the severe injuries Miguel had endured.

Klevi Pirjani was handed a life sentence with a minimum term of 19 years, while Nivalda Santos Pirjani received a life sentence with a minimum of 15 years and three months. The court proceedings revealed disturbing details of Miguel’s injuries, indicating a pattern of sustained harm inflicted upon the innocent child.

The prosecution highlighted the extensive injuries Miguel suffered, leading to irreversible damage and his eventual passing after being taken off life support. Text messages and testimonies presented in court shed light on the couple’s neglect and mistreatment of their son, despite their claims of love and care.

In their defense, the defendants sought to downplay their roles in the tragedy, with Klevi Pirjani denying knowledge of the source of Miguel’s injuries and professing his love for his son. The defense attorneys attempted to portray Nivalda Pirjani as a submissive figure influenced by her husband’s actions and upbringing.

The court proceedings exposed the tragic circumstances surrounding Miguel’s death and the disturbing behavior of his parents, leading to their convictions for murder. The case serves as a stark reminder of the importance of protecting vulnerable individuals and holding perpetrators of such horrific crimes accountable.
