A tragic incident unfolded as a family outing to the beach turned fatal when a one-year-old boy lost his life in a hit-and-run accident. The heartbreaking crash occurred in Playa Del Ray, Los Angeles, when Baby Roger Sandoval Farias, accompanied by his mother and uncle, was struck by a Jeep Cherokee while returning from the beach. Despite efforts to revive Roger at the scene, the attempts were unsuccessful, according to eyewitnesses.
Nicole Farias, Roger’s mother, expressed her grief to NBC4, stating, “I shouldn’t be burying my son. I wanted to see him walk, you know?” She was heard desperately trying to resuscitate Roger, saying, “He’s still warm, he’s still warm,” as reported by the Mirror US. Bystanders, including Cory Cooper, rushed to help and provided CPR to Roger until medical assistance arrived. Tragically, Roger’s uncle, Oswaldo Sandoval Amaya, aged 25, was also pronounced dead at the scene.
The Los Angeles Police Department revealed in a press release that the driver of the Jeep Cherokee abandoned the vehicle at the scene and fled on foot without fulfilling legal obligations to stop or offer aid. The press release further stated that one occupant of a BMW involved in the crash was pronounced deceased at the scene, while the remaining occupants were taken to a local hospital, with one later succumbing to injuries and another in critical condition.
Roger’s grandmother initiated a fundraising campaign to support the family during this difficult time. Describing Roger as a joyful child who brought light to those around him, the fundraising page aims to honor his memory through funeral and memorial services. The family seeks assistance to provide Roger with a fitting farewell.
For those willing to contribute, donations can be made through the GoFundMe page established for Roger. The community is urged to support the family in giving Roger the dignified send-off he deserves.
