A 20-year-old football player, Oteta Kristina Kitiona, is facing allegations of engaging in sexual activities with a 14-year-old boy and exchanging nude images with him. The incidents reportedly took place in Utah in 2024 when Kitiona was 19 years old.
Kitiona, who was part of Samoa’s 2027 FIFA Women’s World Cup qualifying squad, is accused of sexually abusing the teenager multiple times over a six-month period before she started college. The court documents reveal that she visited the boy’s house regularly for sexual encounters between June and October 2024.
After Kitiona went to Bellevue College in Washington state, the alleged relationship paused but resumed when she returned home. During this break, Kitiona purportedly sent explicit photos and videos to the boy, prompting him to reciprocate with nude images, including ones taken in the shower.
The legal age of consent in Utah is 18 years old. Kitiona was charged with distributing harmful material to a minor and three counts of engaging in sexual activities with a minor under the age of 21. She is scheduled to appear in court on June 6.
This case emerged two months after Kitiona represented the Samoan national women’s football team in their World Cup qualifying matches in February.
