CBC is expanding its coverage of Canadian curling with a new five-year broadcast deal that will bring additional playoff coverage of the Grand Slam of Curling and every Rock League game to its platforms. The agreement with The Curling Group, revealed on Thursday, will result in over 300 hours of combined TV coverage on CBC and Sportsnet during the 2026-27 season.
The highlight of the deal for CBC is the inclusion of Rock League. The professional league, which debuted in April, will be back on CBC in January 2027. All games will be accessible on CBC TV and CBC Gem, with selected matches also airing on Radio-Canada’s ICI TOU.TV and Sportsnet on Thursdays and Fridays.
Rock League consists of six mixed-gender franchises with curlers from various countries. The upcoming season will showcase events on specific weekends in January and April, with games scheduled from Thursday to Sunday.
In addition to the Rock League coverage, CBC will play a more significant role in the Grand Slam of Curling. Sportsnet remains the primary broadcaster for all five Grand Slam events beginning in October. It will broadcast three draws per day from Tuesday to Friday. CBC and CBC Gem will join Sportsnet+ for Saturday’s playoff coverage, while Sportsnet will air the championship finals on Sundays, with CBC also airing selected finals during the season. Morning round-robin draws and tiebreakers from Tuesday to Saturday will continue to be streamed on Rock Channel.
This new agreement builds on CBC’s extensive history of covering curling events and enhances its presence during major Canadian curling competitions. Chris Wilson, CBC’s executive director of sports and Olympics, expressed enthusiasm about sharing another season of Rock League with audiences nationwide.
The Curling Group sees these agreements as pivotal for expanding the national audience for both the Grand Slam and Rock League. Nic Sulsky, CEO and co-founder of The Curling Group, described it as a significant moment for the sport. Over the next five years, Canadian viewers can look forward to more ways to follow Grand Slam playoff weekends and the second season of Rock League on CBC.
