A young boy from Calgary who was rescued from a near-drowning incident in a river in British Columbia is currently undergoing treatment in a hospital. The family of nine-year-old Paul-Angelo Warren has expressed concern over the severe damage to his lungs.
The incident occurred on August 3 when Paul-Angelo was swimming and diving in the Shuswap River near Enderby. He failed to resurface after diving underwater, prompting beachgoers to quickly come to his aid. The boy was retrieved from the water shortly after he went missing, with bystanders performing CPR after he was found pinned against fallen tree debris by the river’s strong current.
Authorities suspect that the boy may have been submerged for up to 10 minutes before being rescued. Paul-Angelo is currently receiving medical care at Vancouver Children’s Hospital, where his family remains by his side to provide support and comfort.
In an interview on Tuesday, Maria Warren, the boy’s mother, emphasized her continuous presence by his bedside, expressing her desire for him to see her and hear her voice as soon as he regains consciousness.
