A young boy with a passion for Lego had his wish granted by the Daily Mirror, as they facilitated a trip to Legoland for him and his family before he faced potential sight loss. Mason Hogg, a 5-year-old from Gloucester, received a diagnosis of multiple meningiomas, rare tumors located behind his eyes, at the top of his head, base of his skull, and in his neck.
Being the first child globally to have tumors in these specific areas posed challenges in finding effective treatment, raising concerns about the possibility of complete vision loss. In a heartwarming effort, Mason’s mother initiated a campaign to fulfill his dream of visiting Legoland to experience the renowned attraction with all his senses. Through a collaboration between the Mirror, Legoland, and GoFundMe, Mason’s aspiration became a reality.
During their stay at Legoland’s Castle Hotel on April 19, Mason and his family, including his mother, aunt, cousin, two older brothers, and their partners, enjoyed VIP treatment with Gold passes. Mason, who had never been on a rollercoaster before, conquered the thrilling Dragon ride and embraced the experience wholeheartedly.
Despite initial fears and challenges due to his medical condition, Mason’s resilience and joy shone through during the Legoland adventure. His family’s support and the community’s generosity have been indispensable in creating memorable moments for Mason amidst his health struggles. As they navigate the uncertainty ahead, the family remains hopeful that Mason’s vision will be preserved.
