A barn fire in Ilford prompted the response of eight fire engines and approximately 60 firefighters on Sunday evening. The blaze, located on Painters Road, engaged the efforts of the London Fire Brigade. The barn, completely engulfed in flames, saw the safe evacuation of three horses without any injuries reported. Firefighters utilized a 32-meter turntable ladder as a water tower to combat the fire from above. Additionally, a drone was deployed to provide real-time aerial and thermal imagery for Incident Commanders to strategize effectively. Station Commander Stephen Irvine, present at the scene, indicated a prolonged operation with road closures and advised motorists to avoid the area. The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
