Arsenal supporters are facing significant expenses to journey to the upcoming Champions League final in Budapest. Flights from London to the Hungarian capital are currently priced at over £1,100 for a return trip, doubling in cost from prior to Arsenal’s semi-final victory over Atlético Madrid.
Accommodation in Budapest is also pricey, with hotels near the Puskas Arena exceeding £1,000 per night, a considerable increase compared to standard weekend rates. The cheapest three-star hotel room available for the final weekend was listed at £1,426, while five-star hotels began at £11,879.
In addition to travel and lodging costs, match tickets for the final will range from £60 to £820 each for category 1 passes. Arsenal fans have a limited allocation of 16,824 tickets in the 67,215 capacity stadium. Some fans have expressed shock at the high expenses, prompting calls for intervention to address the exorbitant prices.
To mitigate costs, some fans are considering alternative routes, such as flying through other countries like Slovakia or opting for lengthy train journeys through multiple countries to reach Budapest. Arsenal is arranging a charter flight from London Luton Airport to Budapest for supporters at a cost of £859, inclusive of bus transfers to and from the airport.
The club has assured fans that they are collaborating with UEFA and travel partners to facilitate attendance for as many supporters as possible. Ticket sales will be on a first-come, first-served basis, with various price categories available. Special provisions are in place for Disability Access Members and minors attending the match under adult supervision.
