After facing significant delays, the long-awaited gold MAGA phone associated with Donald Trump is finally en route to customers. However, lingering doubts about the product persist.
Critics have raised concerns that the flashy handset may actually be a low-quality Chinese-made device disguised as a premium product. Despite approximately 590,000 customers experiencing delays, Trump Mobile CEO Pat O’Brien has announced that pre-ordered phones are now being dispatched to customers.
O’Brien attributed the delays to the rigorous process of bringing a new phone to market and ensuring quality standards. Customers who paid a $100 deposit for the ‘T1’ device, priced at $499 (£375) in total, will receive updates as their orders are shipped.
There have been speculations regarding the phone’s manufacturing origin, initially marketed with an emphasis on US production. Analysts have noted similarities between the device’s specifications and existing cheaper Android models. Trump Mobile has shifted its stance, stating that the phone was “designed with American values in mind.”
Details about the manufacturing location remain undisclosed. Recent modifications to the terms and conditions on the Trump Mobile website have added to the scrutiny surrounding the product.
According to reports, the deposit does not guarantee the availability of the device for purchase, as it serves as a conditional opportunity to buy the phone if the company decides to proceed with sales.
Initially planned for an August 2025 launch, Trump Mobile faced criticism but defended the high demand for the product. A 5G monthly plan for the phone is priced at $47.45, reflecting Trump’s presidential numbers.
