Aldi plans to launch 16 new stores in the upcoming months, with locations revealed in areas like Watford, Hoxton in London, Hattersley in Greater Manchester, and Balsall Common in the West Midlands. Currently operating over 1,080 stores nationwide, Aldi aims to expand to 1,500 branches, with the recent openings being part of a substantial £370 million investment in new stores by 2026.
Jonathan Neale, Managing Director of National Real Estate at Aldi UK, emphasized the company’s dedication to providing high-quality, affordable food to all communities through store expansion efforts. The investment in new stores this year is geared towards extending Aldi’s value to more areas and contributing to local economies through competitive pay for employees.
In addition to the new store openings, Aldi has also announced plans to enhance 25 existing stores across the UK this summer. Upgrades will include increased shopping space, sustainable features like energy-efficient fridge doors, and improvements to bakery, health and beauty, and fresh food sections at select locations, tailored to meet varying needs.
These store enhancements aim to elevate the overall shopping experience for customers and employees while aligning with Aldi’s sustainability objectives. Furthermore, Aldi has introduced price reductions on over 200 products this year, totaling over £200 million in investments, with recent reductions amounting to £60 million. Despite these discounts, customers are advised to compare prices across different retailers for the best deals.
