An eat-all-you-can establishment in Spain has implemented a new policy known as a “vomit fee” for patrons who overeat and vomit on the premises. Sushi Toro, situated in Gelves near Sevilla, cited a rise in incidents where customers ate excessively, leading to vomiting.
The restaurant highlighted that this behavior had resulted in disruptions, particularly affecting tables and restroom facilities, posing challenges for the staff and raising concerns about cleanliness and customer satisfaction. In a social media announcement, the restaurant team expressed their frustration, stating, “We have encountered numerous instances of customers continuously ordering and eating excessively until they vomit. This has led to vomit incidents on tables and in the restrooms.”
To address this issue, they deemed implementing a vomiting fee as “the only solution.” Sushi Toro, known for blending tradition with innovation, offers a buffet menu showcasing dishes crafted with fresh ingredients and specialized culinary methods. Prices vary from €16.90 to €23.90, depending on the dining day and time.
The management at Sushi Toro emphasized the dedication of their staff to timely service and maintaining high hygiene standards during all service hours. They advised diners to order only what they can consume and expressed regret for any inconvenience arising from the new regulation.
The demand for sushi has been steadily increasing in Spain, with more customers opting for Asian seafood cuisine over traditional Spanish fish dishes.
