First Lady Melania Trump chose not to accompany US President Trump on his crucial trip to China, opting instead to focus on her commitments supporting “America’s families and children” within the United States, as reported by NBC News sources.
Her absence from the President’s meeting with Chinese President Xi Jinping has drawn attention and raised questions about her current location. While she joined her husband during his 2017 visit to China, this time President Trump is accompanied by senior US officials and prominent CEOs.
Remaining in Washington DC, Melania is commemorating the 180-day milestone since her husband signed the Fostering the Future Executive Order, a program aligned with her efforts to aid children in state care.
According to reports, a source close to the trip clarified that the First Lady was never slated to attend, even before the delay caused by the US-Iran conflict. The source emphasized Melania’s dedication to her domestic initiatives for families and children.
Although Melania will not be present during the current trip, she is scheduled to welcome Chinese President Xi Jinping and his wife, Peng Liyuan, at the White House in September during their reciprocal visit to the US. Notably, Brett Ratner, director of the documentary “MELANIA,” has joined the US President on the China journey, adding another dimension to the state visit.
Ratner’s inclusion, along with notable figures like Tim Cook and Elon Musk, has attracted attention. The documentary, purchased by Amazon for $75 million, showcases Melania’s preparations leading up to the 2025 presidential inauguration.
Also part of the 2026 China tour are Trump’s son Eric and daughter-in-law Lara, who shared a photo featuring Natalie Harp, Trump’s executive assistant. Harp, a key figure in Trump’s social media presence, plays a significant role in managing his posts on Truth Social.
In a recent flurry of activity, Trump’s account posted 55 messages within a few hours, highlighting his supporters’ praise. Natalie Harp’s behind-the-scenes contributions to Trump’s social media content were spotlighted by the Wall Street Journal.
