A cyclist who was critically injured in a hit-and-run incident last week has tragically passed away.
Thomas Brown, a 29-year-old father known for his kindness, was taken to Queen Elizabeth Hospital in Birmingham after the accident on Heath Way, Hodge Hill, on the evening of April 26.
Authorities have confirmed his death this week, while the driver responsible is still at large, according to Birmingham Live.
Police have seized a vehicle believed to be linked to the incident and will conduct forensic examinations. They are urging anyone with information, especially those who may have seen a black estate car fleeing the scene around 7:45 pm towards Coleshill Road, to come forward.
Detective Sergeant Adam Alcock, from the Serious Collision Investigation Unit, stated, “We have specialized officers assisting the man’s family during this challenging period. We urge individuals with information that can aid us to contact us. Road collisions have severe consequences, and our priority is to provide answers to his family.”
“I can confirm from CCTV footage that there were other vehicles and witnesses present at the scene during the collision, and I urge those individuals to reach out to us.”
Individuals with information are encouraged to contact West Midlands Police at 101, quoting log 4048-26042, or email the Serious Collision Investigation Unit directly at sciu@westmidlands.police.uk.
