“Tesco Thief Issued 2-Year Ban: Criminal Behaviour Order in Wirral”

A woman known for stealing from various Tesco stores within a 60-mile radius has been issued a two-year Criminal Behaviour Order. Amy McCarthy, residing in Whetstone Lane, Tranmere, admitted to thefts from a Tesco in Claughton. The Liverpool Magistrates’ Court revealed that McCarthy repeatedly entered a Birkenhead Tesco, took cheese and poultry without paying, and returned later for more items. Apart from theft, McCarthy has past convictions related to vehicle interference.

The order prohibits McCarthy from Birkenhead Town Centre, all Tesco stores in Wirral, and the Vue Cinema in Birkenhead. She is also restricted from entering specific streets and shopping areas. Additionally, she is forbidden from touching or entering any vehicle without consent and must leave any establishment if requested by staff. Inspector Nicola Hughes emphasized the negative impact of theft on the community, stating that the order aims to prevent further harm to businesses.

Authorities warned that breaching the order could lead to arrest and imprisonment, highlighting the importance of Criminal Behaviour Orders in combating persistent retail crime. McCarthy is now barred from numerous stores, significantly limiting her access to local retail outlets. The public is encouraged to report antisocial behavior, with reporting options available through various channels, including emergency services for urgent situations.
