Bangladesh is moving toward introducing PayPal, with two state ministers assuring that the globally recognized payment platform will be launched soon to simplify international transactions for the country’s growing freelance workforce.
The assurance was given by State Minister for Youth and Sports Aminul Haque and State Minister for Local Government, Rural Development, and Cooperatives Mir Shahe Alam at the “Mega Unity Carnival 2026,” organized by E-Learning and Earning Ltd. in Dhaka on Friday. The event was held under the project titled “Employment Creation through Freelancing Training for Educated Job Seekers in 64 Districts of Bangladesh.”
A new website was also launched during the program to help trainees begin earning more easily after completing their freelancing courses. The platform is expected to enable participants to work remotely and generate income from home.
Speaking as the chief guest in the first session, Aminul Haque said the government had pledged to introduce PayPal in its election manifesto and that the process of signing agreements with the relevant authorities is currently underway. “Once PayPal is launched in Bangladesh, educated unemployed youth will be able to receive their freelancing earnings from abroad more easily and efficiently,” he said.
During his visit, the state minister toured the E-Learning and Earning office and its digital lab, where he reviewed the organization’s training activities.
In the second session, Mir Shahe Alam said the government is working to simplify the process of bringing foreign earnings into the country through online professions such as graphic design, digital marketing, and web development. He added that initiatives are underway to facilitate the operations of PayPal and other international payment service providers in Bangladesh, so freelancers can receive their earnings more quickly.
Managing Director of E-Learning and Earning Ltd. Masud Alam said the organization currently operates 71 branches across all 64 districts, providing freelancing training to aspiring professionals nationwide.
He said the company plans to expand its training centers to every upazila in Bangladesh within the next three to six months.
The event was chaired by Dr. Gazi Md. Saifuzzaman, Director General of the Department of Youth Development. Special guests included Youth and Sports Secretary Mahbub-ul-Alam, Additional Secretary of the Planning Commission Md. Babul Mia, and senior officials from the Ministry of Youth and Sports and the Department of Youth Development.
Trainers from all 64 districts, along with officials of E-Learning and Earning Ltd., also attended the event.
