Luke Littler recently shared that he extended an invitation to Prince William for the upcoming PDC World Championship at Alexandra Palace. The 19-year-old, who was honored with an MBE, had the chance to meet the Prince of Wales at Windsor Castle last week.
During their conversation, Littler mentioned that Prince William expressed interest in attending an evening at Ally Pally, describing it as a good night out. The darts champion then conveyed that the future king would be welcomed at the championship.
Reflecting on their interaction, Littler revealed, “Prince William mentioned that he has been following the darts scene and we discussed the sport’s rise in popularity. While I didn’t formally invite him, I’m confident that either myself or the PDC can arrange some tickets if needed.”
Known for his passion for football, Prince William recently celebrated Aston Villa’s victory in the Europa League, praising the team for their outstanding performance. Villa defender Matty Cash shared that the Prince joined the players for a celebratory drink, highlighting his unwavering support for the club.
The question remains whether Prince William will develop a similar enthusiasm for darts. For Littler, the opportunity to converse with him was a surreal and unforgettable experience.
Looking ahead, Littler is focusing on his upcoming challenge in the Premier League Darts, aiming for his second title win. He is set to face Gerwyn Price in the semi-final, with the prospect of competing against either Jonny Clayton or Luke Humphries in the final.
Expressing his ambition, Littler stated, “Achieving a third consecutive final would be a great accomplishment, but my immediate focus is on defeating Gezzy in the upcoming match. While some may anticipate a final showdown between Luke and me, our consistent performance speaks for itself.”
