Lidl has introduced a significant change to its loyalty program, now allowing customers to accrue points based on their spending. Users of the Lidl Plus program will earn one point for each pound spent in the store. These points can be later exchanged for vouchers for complimentary items or as discounts on purchases.
For instance, a check on the Lidl Plus app today revealed that 100 points could get you a free cucumber, plain tortilla wraps, or houmous. With 200 points, you can claim a free halloumi or Greek yogurt. Accumulating 300 points entitles you to a £3 discount on your next shopping trip, while 500 points will give you £5 off.
The earned points are valid for two years and have replaced the previous rewards system based on reaching monthly spending thresholds. Additionally, Lidl Plus continues to offer personalized discount coupons on selected products. To redeem your points, simply navigate to the Rewards Marketplace section within the Lidl Plus app and select your preferred reward.
According to a Lidl spokesperson, users may often earn more than one point per pound spent through various promotions like Rewards of the Week, double points, triple points, or free points on specific items. Louise Weise, Lidl’s chief customer officer, emphasized that the new system provides customers with increased flexibility in choosing and utilizing rewards according to their preferences.
To kick off the revamped loyalty program, all Lidl Plus app users will receive 100 complimentary points. Moreover, they will earn double points for any fruit purchases made until May 22.
