Jet2 recently revealed plans to introduce two new Greek destinations departing from Leeds Bradford Airport. Starting in summer 2027, the airline will commence services to Santorini and Preveza. Flights to Preveza are scheduled every Sunday until October 10, 2027, while Santorini flights will operate on Thursdays until October 7, 2027.
Santorini, known for its breathtaking beauty and geological marvels, has been a popular holiday spot in Greece for years. The island’s unique landscape, shaped by a historic volcanic eruption, features towering cliffs surrounding a caldera, adorned with traditional whitewashed Greek villages that offer stunning views of the sea. Most iconic images of Santorini are typically associated with Oia or Fira, the vibrant capital of the island.
Perched on the rim of an extinct volcano, Oia boasts stunning views of the turquoise waters from its cliffside structures. This picturesque Santorini setting is often seen on platforms like Pinterest but can get quite crowded during peak summer months. A brief 20-minute journey from Oia leads to Fira, where cliffside paths provide panoramic vistas, hidden gems to explore, and a variety of charming boutiques and dining options.
Preveza, a hidden gem in northwestern Greece, offers a serene Mediterranean escape with a blend of ancient heritage, stunning coastal views, and exceptional seafood. Despite being overshadowed by nearby destinations like Lefkada or Parga, Preveza provides a tranquil retreat with 60km of pristine beaches, rich history, and vibrant nightlife. The area is connected to the Greek mainland through the country’s first undersea tunnel.
Jet2’s upcoming Summer 2027 schedule at Leeds Bradford Airport is set to be the largest to date, with nearly two million seats available across 53 routes. In addition to the new Greek destinations, the North East airport will also introduce flights to popular Egyptian locations Hurghada and Sharm El Sheikh. Steve Heapy, Jet2’s CEO, expressed excitement about the expanded program, highlighting the increased choices and flexibility for travelers.
Aviation director at Leeds Bradford Airport, Declan Maguire, emphasized the significance of adding Preveza and Santorini to the airport’s route network, providing Yorkshire residents with more vacation options. The new routes aim to offer travelers diverse experiences, from the scenic coastlines of Preveza to the iconic allure of Santorini, enhancing the region’s travel choices and inspiring future trips.
