An influencer and her attorney father have been apprehended for an alleged scheme to engage a hitman from the dark web to eliminate her former boyfriend, a singer from a boy band.
Gabriela Gonzalez, a popular figure on TikTok recognized for her lifestyle and travel content, along with her father Francisco, are facing accusations from Los Angeles County prosecutors for planning the murder of her ex-partner, Jack Avery, with whom she shares a seven-year-old daughter.
Jack Avery, a former member of the music group Why Don’t We, had been involved in a custody dispute with Gabriela. Francisco Gonzalez reportedly hired a private investigator to gather incriminating evidence against Jack to use in the custody battle.
The prosecutors claim that between 2020 and 2021, Gabriela solicited her then-boyfriend, Kai Cordrey, to seek out a hitman via the dark web to carry out the murder. Her father allegedly made payments totaling $14,000 to assist in the illicit plan.
Kai Cordrey allegedly communicated with an undercover law enforcement agent, posing as a hitman, discussing the details of the contract. He purportedly implicated Gabriela and her father in the plot.
Gabriela was arrested in California, while her father was taken into custody in Florida for charges related to conspiracy to commit murder, solicitation of murder, and attempted murder-for-hire. The trio could face a maximum sentence of 25 years to life if found guilty.
Following the arrests, Jack Avery obtained a restraining order against Gabriela. The legal proceedings against the accused individuals are ongoing.
