A recent poll conducted by Deltapoll revealed that a significant majority of British citizens are in favor of reversing Brexit, nearly a decade after the initial decision to exit the European Union. The survey found that approximately 59% of respondents would support re-joining the EU if a new Brexit referendum were to take place.
The upcoming 10th anniversary of the EU referendum, which saw the UK vote to leave the bloc by a narrow margin of 52% to 48%, marks a significant political event. This outcome led to the resignation of then-Prime Minister David Cameron and continued to impact Theresa May’s premiership until her departure in 2019.
Since the Labour Party’s election victory in July 2024, Keir Starmer has been actively working to rebuild relations with the EU, which had deteriorated during the tumultuous Brexit negotiations.
The Deltapoll survey comes amid escalating tensions between the White House under Donald Trump’s administration and the EU, particularly regarding the conflict in Iran and negotiations for Ukraine to join the EU’s £78 billion loan program.
In response to recent developments, Keir Starmer addressed the European Political Summit, emphasizing the need for strengthened alliances and cooperation among countries. He highlighted the importance of Europe increasing its commitments to defense and security, underscoring the mutual benefits of closer collaboration with the EU.
The survey, conducted online with 3,353 British adults, including respondents from Wales and Scotland, between April 26 and May 1, 2026, has been weighted to ensure representativeness across the British adult population as a whole.
