“Pete Hegseth Jokes About ‘Kamikaze Dolphins’ in Iran”

Pete Hegseth made light-hearted remarks at a recent press conference regarding the use of “kamikaze dolphins” in Iran, playfully suggesting that he cannot confirm or deny any involvement of the US with militarized marine animals.

When questioned about reports of dolphins being utilized as weapons, the US defense secretary humorously responded by stating that he cannot confirm or deny the existence of kamikaze dolphins on the US side, but confirmed that Iran does not possess them.

General Dan Caine, the chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff, quipped about the concept of kamikaze dolphins, likening it to the idea of sharks with laser beams as seen in the movie “Austin Powers: International Man of Mystery.”

Hegseth further joked about the situation, comparing it to sharks with laser beams, acknowledging the humorous reference.

Reports indicate that in 2000, the Iranian regime bought trained dolphins from the Soviet navy, which were taught to attack enemies using harpoons attached to their bodies and to carry out kamikaze operations against enemy vessels laden with mines.

Hegseth clarified that the US’s ‘Project Freedom’ mission, focused on ensuring safe passage for ships through the Strait of Hormuz, is distinct from the ongoing conflict with Iran.

Emphasizing that the ceasefire between the US and Iran remains intact, Hegseth cautioned Tehran against any aggression towards American or international commercial traffic passing through the vital waterway, stating that the situation will be closely monitored.

He underscored that Project Freedom’s primary goal is to resume the unimpeded flow of commerce through the Strait of Hormuz, a region affected by rising oil prices due to Iran’s actions.

Highlighting the defensive nature and temporary timeframe of Project Freedom, Hegseth stressed its exclusive focus on safeguarding innocent commercial shipping from potential Iranian threats, distinguishing it from Operation Epic Fury.
