A tragic incident unfolded at a golf club in Wimblington, Cambridgeshire, where a seven-year-old boy was discovered in water and later passed away. Emergency services swiftly responded to the distress call at Priory Golf and Activity Centre on Easter Monday, April 6, around 2pm.
Ambulance teams and air ambulances were dispatched to the scene, transporting the young boy to Peterborough City Hospital, where he sadly succumbed to his injuries. Cambridgeshire Police confirmed the non-suspicious nature of the incident at the golf club and disclosed that no arrests have been made in connection with the tragedy. The child’s remains have been entrusted to the coroner for further examination.
A representative from East of England Ambulance NHS Trust stated, “Following a call just after 2pm regarding a child in the water on March Road in Wimblington, we dispatched multiple emergency vehicles, including an ambulance, ambulance officer vehicle, rapid response vehicle, and the Magpas Air Ambulance.”
The child was transported via road to Peterborough City Hospital, where, regrettably, he passed away. The spokesperson extended thoughts and condolences to the bereaved family and friends amidst this heartbreaking event.
As per Cambridgeshire Police, the authorities were alerted to the situation at Priory Golf Centre on March Road at approximately 2pm, leading to the hospitalization of the seven-year-old boy, who tragically lost his life shortly thereafter.
