A significant development has surfaced concerning the upcoming state visit of King Charles and Queen Camilla to the United States. The royal couple will not have the opportunity to meet with survivors of convicted sex offender Jeffrey Epstein during their visit next month.
US congressman Ro Khanna penned a letter to the King urging a private meeting with the survivors during the late April state visit. However, due to ongoing UK police investigations related to Epstein, it has been indicated that such a meeting will not be feasible.
The highly anticipated historic trip of Charles and Camilla is set for late April, despite some calls for its postponement or cancellation due to the ongoing Middle East conflict. President Donald Trump hailed the visit as a “momentous occasion” on his Truth Social platform, mentioning a grand Banquet Dinner at the White House on April 28 as part of the itinerary.
The “historic state visit” is slated to span four days from April 27 to 30, as confirmed by Trump, although Buckingham Palace refrained from disclosing the exact dates in its official announcement. Trump expressed his anticipation of meeting the King and emphasized his admiration, terming the visit as “TERRIFIC!”
Just before Buckingham Palace’s announcement of the royal visit, Trump suggested that the UK should independently secure the Strait of Hormuz. He emphasized that nations not participating in certain actions against Iran should take initiative and gain the necessary courage to protect the strait.
In a move that signals strained relationships resulting from his Middle East policies, Trump implied that allies must become self-reliant in defense. The UK was singled out in Trump’s remarks on his Truth Social platform, hinting at the need for allies to take responsibility for their security.
