Police in the UK have cordoned off a popular beauty spot following the discovery of a deceased individual. The body, believed to be a man, was found near Marple Aqueduct in Stockport. Although the identity of the deceased has not been officially confirmed yet, authorities have notified the man’s next of kin.
Witnesses reported observing a police helicopter hovering over the aqueduct area, which was subsequently sealed off earlier today. Images show law enforcement officers congregating near a wooded section close to two parked police vehicles.
According to a spokesperson from the Greater Manchester Police, the incident is not being treated as suspicious. The Marple Aqueduct, constructed in the late 1700s to span the River Goyt and carry the lower level of the Peak Forest Canal, features a renowned 16-lock flight that is classified as a Grade II historic structure and one of the steepest in the country.
