Wizz Air has introduced the sole direct flight from the UK to a pedestrian-friendly destination known as the ‘pink city’, which no longer requires visas for British visitors.
In a noteworthy development for the low-cost carrier, travelers can now depart from London Luton Airport to Yerevan for as little as £45.99. The new Wizz Air service commenced on Tuesday, 9th June, offering the only non-stop connection from the UK to Armenia.
Flights will run from London Luton to Yerevan, Armenia, twice weekly on Mondays and Fridays throughout the year. The direct flight lasts slightly over five hours, leading passengers to the stunning landscapes of mountains and historic architectural wonders in the renowned ‘Pink City’.
The city earned its nickname due to the pinkish-hued stone prevalent in its structures, complemented by tree-lined streets and vibrant public squares. Yerevan boasts historic monasteries, museums, galleries, markets, and a lively cafe culture.
On the inaugural direct route to Armenia from the UK, Wizz Air pilot Tom Copestake shared his enthusiasm, stating, “I’m thrilled about landing in Yerevan, Armenia. It’s a novel destination for us, surrounded by majestic mountains, promising a fascinating flying experience.”
Enhancing the allure of a journey to Armenia in Asia, British tourists can visit visa-free for up to 180 days annually, unlike several other Asian countries that require Brits to obtain visas at an additional expense.
