President Donald Trump was overheard expressing a sense of age after a conversation with one of his sons about reaching 80 years old, as per a lip reader’s account. The lip reader, Nicola Hickling, caught snippets of Trump’s discussion while he and his son Eric Trump were watching the LIV Golf tournament at Trump National Golf Club in Washington, DC, from behind bulletproof glass. The topic of conversation seemed to revolve around Trump’s advancing age.
Although Trump did not specify which son initiated the discussion, he reportedly mentioned, “Yes, we were talking and he said, ‘Dad, you know you’re going to be 80 years old.’ After he said this, I felt old.” Following this, Trump added, according to the lip reader, “You’re only as old as you feel, right?” while playfully gesturing at Eric.
During the same event, there was online speculation about Trump’s height after his son Eric appeared noticeably taller than him at LIV Golf Virginia. Observers quickly questioned whether Trump’s actual height matched his officially listed stature, with Eric reported to be slightly over 6ft 4in while Trump is said to be around 6ft 3in. In video footage, Trump appeared visibly shorter than his son and at times had to tilt his head upward to meet Eric’s gaze.
Social media users wasted no time in commenting on Trump’s height, with one user stating, “Eric Trump: 6′ 4. Donald Trump: Definitely not 6′ 3.” Another user humorously remarked, “Wow Eric grew like 6 inches overnight!!!” Trump received a warm reception from the enthusiastic crowd at the LIV Golf Virginia event held at his own Trump National Golf Club in Sterling, Virginia.
The future of LIV has been a major topic in golf circles following reports that Saudi Arabia’s Public Investment Fund (PIF) plans to withdraw financial backing from the league after the 2026 season. In response, LIV has been actively seeking new investors to ensure the league’s sustainability. These discussions coincide with golfer Rory McIlroy raising doubts about the competitiveness of LIV players if they do not intend to return to the PGA Tour.
