Three members of a single family tragically lost their lives in a violent incident at a residence in southwestern Sydney. The distressing scene was described by authorities as extremely bloody. Police responded to the property on Juliet Close in Rosemeadow after receiving reports of the incident around 1:30 am on Sunday.
Upon arrival, emergency crews discovered a couple in their 60s and two of their sons who had been assaulted. The police provided immediate first aid to a 65-year-old woman while finding a 64-year-old man inside the house with severe head injuries. Tragically, another male was found deceased in a granny flat on the premises.
The deceased individual in the granny flat is believed to be the couple’s 25-year-old son. Their other son, aged 30, managed to contact emergency services after being attacked and was later treated at Liverpool Hospital before being discharged.
Approximately an hour after the initial call for help, law enforcement arrested a 32-year-old man in connection with the incident. Superintendent Grant Healey emphasized the shocking nature of the event, expressing that it was unforeseeable and describing it as a rare and tragic occurrence.
Investigators suspect that multiple weapons, including a bladed object and a potential hammer, were used in the assault. Neighbors characterized the family as reserved and peaceful. One neighbor recalled being awakened by noises resembling a car chase and later witnessing the arrival of emergency vehicles along with a suspect surrendering to the authorities.
Authorities are urging anyone with relevant information to contact Crime Stoppers at 1800 333 000.
