Samsung has revealed its latest lineup of innovative foldable phones, potentially disrupting Apple’s plans.
The tech giant from Korea introduced three new devices, led by the revamped Galaxy Z Fold 8, featuring a new design approach.
Differing from previous Fold models, the Galaxy Z Fold 8 showcases a “passport-style” design when closed, transforming into a wider screen when unfolded for enhanced usability.
With a spacious 7.6-inch display akin to a compact tablet, the device is perfect for entertainment like streaming movies and gaming on the move.
The launch holds significance as Apple is expected to introduce its first foldable iPhone soon, possibly adopting a similar design. Samsung’s early move could give it an edge over its rival.
The Galaxy Z Fold 8 boasts being the thinnest and lightest Fold model yet, weighing just 180g. It features an upgraded hinge for improved durability and longevity.
Equipped with Vision Booster technology and an anti-reflective coating, the larger display enhances visibility in bright conditions.
Powered by Qualcomm’s latest Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 processor and a 4,800mAh battery, the device offers fast charging capabilities.
The device incorporates a dual-camera system for quality photography and uses Gorilla Glass for protection against damage.
Samsung has also integrated its latest Galaxy AI tools for enhanced photo editing, productivity features, and search functions.
The Galaxy Z Fold 8 is priced starting at £1,699, available for pre-order now. In contrast, Apple’s rumored foldable iPhone, expected later this year, might cost over £2,000.
Apart from the Fold 8, Samsung unveiled the Galaxy Z Fold 8 Ultra, resembling the previous Fold 7 but with significant upgrades like a powerful camera system and enhanced hinge and display structure.
Featuring a 5,000mAh battery and starting from £1,899, the Fold 8 Ultra promises improved performance and durability.
Completing the lineup is the Galaxy Z Flip 8, maintaining Samsung’s popular clamshell design while getting lighter and thinner.
The Galaxy Z Flip 8 offers a better external display, a robust hinge, faster performance, and enhanced camera capabilities, starting from £1,149.
