The latest winners of the top attractions in England have been announced, revealing some unexpected results. While popular tourist spots like Buckingham Palace, the Tower of London, and Stonehenge are typically on visitors’ lists, this year’s Visit England Large Visitor Attraction of the Year award went to Jimmy’s Farm & Wildlife Park in Suffolk.
Owned by TV personality and conservationist Jimmy Doherty, the wildlife park showcases a variety of animals, including camels, primates, tapirs, and crocodiles. Notably, the addition of polar bears to Europe’s largest polar bear facility, “the Lost Lands of the Tundra,” has garnered significant attention, along with other species like brown bears, Arctic foxes, and wolves.
Despite being less well-known, Jimmy’s Farm has received acclaim for its dedication to British rare breeds and its commitment to providing an enriching environment for its animals. Visitors have praised the park for its family-friendly atmosphere, diverse activities, and picturesque setting.
The awards ceremony, hosted by journalist Sean Fletcher, highlighted the excellence of various tourism businesses across England. Winners were recognized in categories ranging from regenerative tourism to accessible accommodations, showcasing the industry’s innovation and commitment to quality service.
Tourism Minister Stephanie Peacock commended the awarded businesses for their contributions to the tourism sector, emphasizing the importance of providing exceptional experiences for visitors. VisitEngland Director Andrew Stokes echoed this sentiment, praising the winners for their passion and dedication to the industry.
