A drug dealer labeled as “hapless” has been sentenced to four years in prison after being apprehended by authorities with 150 grams of cocaine in his possession. Darren Eastwood, aged 31, confessed to trafficking cocaine and possessing £79,500 in cash at two locations in Sevenoaks, Kent. Police discovered Eastwood’s illegal activities when his phone mistakenly called the 112 emergency line, confirming that the device had been used for drug-related communications.
Investigators noted that Eastwood essentially incriminated himself by confirming the suspicions already held by officers. Kent Police revealed that call records from the phone indicated its usage in conjunction with another device registered to Eastwood. The two phones were found to have made simultaneous calls to the same number, with evidence of a message promoting “Christmas deals” to drug users on December 24, 2025.
Eastwood’s inadvertent call to the 112 emergency line, typically utilized by EU visitors for emergencies, occurred on January 11. When operators answered the call, only background noise was audible. Subsequent attempts by police to verify the caller’s well-being led to a man admitting it was a pocket dial but refusing to disclose his identity.
On January 16, Eastwood was arrested on Hitchen Hatch Road with cocaine wraps, two mobile phones, and cash totaling £79,500. He pleaded guilty in court on January 19 to charges of supplying class A drugs, possessing class A drugs with intent to supply, and possessing criminal proceeds. Detective Constable Mark Simcox remarked that Eastwood’s call had sealed his fate, confirming his involvement in the drug trade.
Eastwood was convicted at Maidstone Crown Court and sentenced to four years in prison. Det Con Simcox emphasized the dedication of law enforcement in disrupting drug operations in Kent, leading to the removal of a significant quantity of drugs from circulation, Eastwood’s incarceration, and the seizure of illicit funds lining criminal pockets.
