Emergency responders swiftly arrived at the Multnomah Athletic Club in Portland, Oregon, today after a vehicle collided with the club, igniting a fire. Authorities determined that the driver, yet to be identified, perished in the collision.
According to Portland Police, the vehicle burst into flames upon impact with the building, and explosive devices were discovered inside, along with the deceased individual. Portland Fire & Rescue received a report of the incident on their official website, noting that one fatality was found in the vehicle after the fire was extinguished.
The Explosive Disposal Unit of the Portland Police responded to the discovery of an explosive device in the vehicle and is aiding in the investigation and assessment of the scene. Due to the ongoing investigation, Southwest 18th Avenue and Southwest 20th Avenue are closed within specific street ranges, and the public is advised to steer clear of the area.
