British tourists witnessed a terrifying incident during their peaceful dinner as gunmen attacked a restaurant in southern Italy. Angelo Pizzi, also known as Lino, was tragically shot while on duty at Spaghetteria n.1 in Bisceglie. The 62-year-old head waiter, with no criminal history, was mistakenly targeted in what authorities believe to be a mafia-style ambush.
The assailants, wearing hoods, abruptly entered the restaurant and unleashed a rapid barrage of gunfire, causing chaos among diners. Investigators suspect that the real target was the restaurant owner, who has a criminal record and was present during the attack. Sadly, Mr. Pizzi, a well-respected family man, was caught in the crossfire, with British tourists among the horrified witnesses.
Law enforcement agencies, including the Direzione Distrettuale Antimafia, are leading the investigation, examining CCTV footage and gathering witness testimonies. Despite the swift escape of the gunmen, no arrests have been made yet. The community of Bisceglie, led by Mayor Angelantonio Angarano, is calling for unity and justice in the aftermath of the tragic event.
Authorities are exploring possible connections between this incident and a recent murder in Bisceglie involving Filippo Scavo of the Strisciuglio clan. The proximity of the two violent episodes has raised suspicions of linked criminal activities, prompting a thorough investigation by the police.
