Apple has rolled out a crucial update for iPhone users to address an issue hindering wireless charging on some devices. The glitch has forced affected users to resort to MagSafe wireless charging as an alternative method to power up their phones.
Although Apple states that only a small percentage of users are impacted, it is advisable for all iPhone owners to ensure their devices are running the latest software.
The update is particularly essential for iPhone 17 series, including the Pro and Pro Max models, as well as the iPhone Air. Apple has clarified that the update resolves a specific problem related to wired charging on these models when the battery is nearly depleted.
To update the device, users can navigate to Settings, select General, and then tap on Software Update. Upon checking for updates, iOS 26.5.1 should be available for installation. Users can choose to update immediately or schedule it during nighttime hours.
It is important to have a stable Wi-Fi connection or unlimited mobile data as the update file size is substantial at 13.6GB.
