Pop singer Miley recently made a significant change on her social media accounts by dropping the last name “Cyrus,” sparking speculation among fans. Some wondered if this move was related to her relationships with her godmother, Dolly Parton, or her father, country singer Billy Ray Cyrus. However, Billy Ray Cyrus took to social media to clarify the situation, revealing that he has always affectionately referred to his daughter as Miley since she was a child.
Miley, originally named Destiny Hope Cyrus, earned her nickname “Smiley” from her father due to her constant smiling, which eventually evolved into Miley. Billy Ray Cyrus introduced her to Dolly Parton, who became Miley’s godmother. Both Billy Ray and Miley have expressed their deep sorrow over the recent passing of Dolly Parton.
In response to the speculations, Billy Ray Cyrus emphasized the importance of family, especially during these challenging times, and expressed his support for Miley’s decision to go by a single name. He likened this choice to other iconic superstars like Dolly and Cher, suggesting it as a natural progression for a legendary artist.
It is clarified that Miley’s adjustment is more of a rebranding than an official name change. Her upcoming album, “Bass Persuades,” is set to be released on September 18, with two concerts scheduled at the Hollywood Bowl in Los Angeles in October. Miley shared her excitement for these performances on Instagram, highlighting her emotional connection to Los Angeles.
