Two siblings are facing immense challenges after their mother and sister tragically lost their lives in a car accident, followed by the passing of their father a few weeks later.
The siblings, Mason and Bailey, are at risk of homelessness as their father, Ted Papworth, did not leave a will, resulting in his property being seized by authorities. Ted, deeply devastated by the deaths of his partner Michelle Devine and seven-year-old daughter Theia, passed away in March.
Expressing concern for the siblings’ well-being, their aunt Olivia Knight mentioned that they are currently in a difficult situation. She has initiated a GoFundMe campaign to assist Mason, aged 20, and Bailey, aged 18, in securing a place to live and covering funeral expenses.
The tragic incident occurred when the siblings’ mother, Michelle, aged 43, and Theia, lost their lives in a car crash on the A3 near Haslemere, Surrey, due to injuries sustained in a single-vehicle collision. Michelle’s family described her as having a compassionate nature, with her children being her greatest pride. Sadly, her death came shortly after her sister passed away from a heart attack.
In an interview with the Daily Mail, Ms. Knight expressed her concern, stating that the siblings are too young to handle such a loss. The family is devastated by the series of tragedies they have faced, with Michelle having already been dealing with the loss of her sister before her own untimely death.
Despite living apart, Ted and Michelle had a close relationship during their 22-year marriage. After the accident, Ted, who resided in Spain, was shattered emotionally, prompting his sister from Australia to visit and provide support.
Ted’s demise occurred as he slept next to his sister after an evening out and watching TV, resulting from a medical condition that caused fluid accumulation in his lungs. Described as a devoted father by Ms. Knight, Ted was profoundly affected by the loss of Michelle and Theia, leaving him with a broken heart.
The surviving children, based in Portsmouth, Hampshire, are now burdened with funeral expenses and the absence of a home following the seizure of their father’s property. An ongoing GoFundMe campaign has raised over £8,000 to support Mason and Bailey and prevent them from facing homelessness.
