A well-known Spanish theme park that attracts many British visitors due to its proximity to popular holiday destinations is set to undergo a significant expansion, introducing two new zones promising more excitement and adventure.
PortAventura World, situated near Barcelona and close to the beach resorts of Tarragona and Salou, is already one of Europe’s largest theme parks, boasting six themed worlds like Mediterrà nia, inspired by a Catalan fishing village, and Far West, depicting the American pioneer era.
The park offers six on-site hotels and four additional properties outside the resort area. Visitors can also access Ferrari Land park and a vast waterpark within PortAventura World.
The upcoming expansion will include a new area at Caribe Aquatic Park named Coral Bay, La Leyenda Perdida (The Lost Legend), featuring a family water zone inspired by a sunken pirate bay. The highlight will be Cyclone, Europe’s first water coaster and the world’s second of its kind, covering over 6,000 m².
Additionally, BahÃa Pirata, a multi-adventure pool, and The Crab, a multi-slide tower with five routes, will be part of the new zone. Younger guests can enjoy Splash Port, an interactive water area. A new themed restaurant and relaxation spots are also planned.
Furthermore, a new attraction called Makamanu Jungle, The Adventure Trek, will be added to the Polynesia section of PortAventura Park. This area will offer a family adventure experience surrounded by tropical vegetation, featuring elevated paths, rope tunnels, bridges, and high-level structures integrated into the natural landscape.
The new experiences are expected to launch this summer, although an official opening date has yet to be confirmed.
In the same vein, several UK theme parks are introducing new rides and lands in 2026. Paultons Park recently unveiled Valgard: Realm of the Vikings, a Viking-themed area with three new rides and immersive experiences. Meanwhile, Chessington’s World of PAW Patrol has quickly become a fan favorite.
Notably, Universal’s upcoming UK theme park, now officially known as Universal United Kingdom Resort, recently disclosed some details like its logo, but specifics regarding themed lands and rides remain undisclosed at this time.
