The highly-anticipated attraction in Bedfordshire has been officially named as Universal United Kingdom Resort. Government officials, including Chancellor of the Exchequer Rachel Reeves, gathered to commemorate the groundbreaking ceremony signifying the commencement of construction.
The resort is set to offer a thrilling experience for visitors with its six themed lands and three large rollercoasters. Universal has been secretive about the specific details of the lands, keeping the anticipation high. Anticipated to draw millions of visitors annually, the park aims to attract over a million international tourists.
Universal has hinted at a unique experience for visitors, promising an unparalleled theme park unlike any other in the UK. The resort is designed to provide immersive storytelling, exciting attractions, and exceptional hospitality, drawing inspiration from popular franchises such as Jurassic World, Shrek, and the Minions.
With construction set to kick off soon, the grand opening of the Universal United Kingdom Resort is scheduled for May 2031. The significant investment of over £5 billion by Comcast NBCUniversal over a five-year construction period, along with an additional £1 billion in capital investment over the first decade, marks one of the largest contributions to the UK tourism sector.
Located in Bedfordshire, the resort is expected to source approximately 80% of its workforce locally. The Department for Transport is also planning infrastructure upgrades to enhance accessibility to the resort, including improvements to the road network and Wixams station.
