“Analyst Warns Djokovic’s Leg-Hitting Habit Could Have Consequences”

During a Wimbledon match, BBC analyst Jamie Murray suggested that Novak Djokovic’s habit of hitting his leg repeatedly might backfire in the long run. Djokovic self-struck 11 times while facing Arthur Rinderknech, risking his two-set lead against the French player.

Although the strategy helped motivate Djokovic to secure a hard-fought win, Murray hinted that it could lead to possible bruises the next day.

Murray commented, “That might leave a mark in the morning. He might regret that tomorrow.” Pundit Tim Henman added, “My opponent was already challenging me enough, let alone me challenging myself.”

Henman further stated, “Djokovic’s actions seemed excessive, but whatever motivates him. He realized the importance of the early part of the fourth set after losing the third set, and I thought both players displayed top-quality performance in the fourth set.”

After Djokovic’s victory, Henman shared his concerns about the physical well-being of the 24-time Grand Slam champion when asked by presenter Clare Balding.

Henman remarked, “It’s a common saying in Grand Slam tennis, especially in the men’s game, that you can’t secure the title in the first week, but you can certainly jeopardize it.”

He added, “In the past, Djokovic has struggled with his physical condition after enduring long matches. However, looking at his performance in these matches so far, they have been relatively straightforward and not overly demanding physically. Djokovic would certainly be pleased with his performance in the first week of Wimbledon this year.”

During a post-match interview, Djokovic addressed queries about his mental and physical state, expressing confidence in his current form despite facing challenges.

Djokovic stated, “I believe I did everything necessary today, even under less favorable conditions compared to the previous round, and it was sufficient for victory.”

He added, “At this stage of my career, each day presents new and unpredictable situations for me. I hope to perform at my best in the coming days.”
