A British man who went missing was discovered deceased on a beach in Costa del Sol after disappearing at sea. The 25-year-old sparked a large search effort involving police, coastguards, and Red Cross officials that lasted nearly three days until his body was found on Saturday morning.
The incident unfolded when reports emerged late Wednesday night of a foreign individual entering the sea at Misericordia Beach in Malaga. Subsequently, a man’s body was found at Huelin Beach nearby, initially raising doubts about his identity. Authorities have now confirmed that the deceased man was the same person feared missing and identified him as a British citizen.
The cause of death, whether drowning or other factors, remains undetermined by Spanish authorities. The autopsy results, which will be shared with a local court magistrate, are not expected to be publicly disclosed. The National Police spokesperson stated that there are no suspicions of foul play in the man’s demise, emphasizing the absence of criminal evidence.
Following the discovery of the body at Huelin Beach, emergency services swiftly responded early on Saturday morning. The coordinated effort involved medical services, Local Police, Red Cross, Guardia Civil, and National Police, who confirmed the death at the scene. It is currently unknown whether the British man resided locally or was visiting the area.
Huelin Beach, situated west of Malaga city center, boasts various leisure zones popular for sports activities and family relaxation. The area also features beach bars and restaurants offering regional delicacies like fresh fried fish.
