Aldi has recently implemented price reductions on more than 200 products across various categories. The discounted items range from fresh and frozen foods to pantry staples, household essentials, and personal care items.
Some of the noteworthy price cuts at Aldi include discounts of 50p on selected fresh British beef steaks, such as the 30 Day Matured British Rump Steak now priced at £4.69, the 30 Day Matured British Sirloin Steak at £5.99, and the 28 Day Matured British Fillet Steak at £6.79. Additionally, Aldi has reduced prices on products like Gianni Ice Cream Lollies, Watermelon Fruit Lollies, and Ice Cream Cookies.
Moreover, Aldi shoppers can enjoy lowered prices on beverages like New Zealand Marlborough Sauvignon Blanc and Aperini Spritz 4-Pack, as well as on the Lacura SPF50+ Sensitive Lotion.
Aldi has invested over £200 million in price reductions this year, with £60 million in reductions introduced recently. However, customers are advised to compare prices from different sources to ensure they are getting the best deals.
Julie Ashfield, Chief Commercial Officer at Aldi UK, emphasized the importance of providing customers with affordable options without compromising on quality. Meanwhile, Waitrose has also slashed prices on more than 160 own-brand products as part of a £20 million investment to assist shoppers in saving money. The reduced prices cover a variety of everyday items, including free-range eggs, onions, chicken thighs, apples, frozen peas, chickpeas, and chopped tomatoes.
Nearly half of the decreased prices are on products from the Essential Waitrose range. This initiative represents the ninth round of New Lower Prices since 2023, with Waitrose investing a total of £162.5 million across more than 1,000 products.
In related supermarket news, grocery price inflation has slowed down this month, with prices being 3.1% higher compared to a year ago in May, down from 3.8% in April and 4.3% in March, according to data from Worldpanel by Numerator.
